Cameo
This means that a famous person will appear in the
background, or say one or two lines.
The reasons this is usually done
is marketing. If you make a movie but can't pay a big name actor full time then
you might be able to get a cameo. This allows you to put that actor's name on
the movie and raises the visibility of that movie.
Another reason might be the cameo is someone deeply involved
with the writing or directing of the movie, but is not an actual actor.
Examples are Alfred Hitchcock and Stan Lee. However, I was to appear in
Slenderman (2018) playing as a cop who escorted a girl home from killing
herself but that scene was ultimately cut from the finished film.
It means that either a very popular actor or the director/script
writer/whatever of the movie has a little role. He/she is only shown a few
seconds or only says one sentence in the movie.
Examples:
Examples:
·
Alfred hitchcock in the man with the most cameo roles in the world

movies (ant man: he is a barkeeper in the second story louis tells

·

·
The original meaning was to create a
small gem by cutting away the background so that a figure stands out in relief.
The Romans became masters of this art (or at least the slaves in their
workshops did).
·
The usual meaning starting in the
20th century was in the film industry, where a famous actor who agreed to play
a very small role, often listed in the opening credits as "with a special
appearance by X", was mentioned in reviews as having "played a cameo
role." The meaning was that it was small but it was of high quality.
